Pre-employment MEdical

What is involved?

  • Medical history - this will involve asking questions about your current medication and any medical conditions that you currently have or surgeries that you have had in the past. It will also ask about current symptoms for possible undiagnosed conditions.

  • Physical exam - this will include a full medical without invasive procedures but will include cardiovascular examination, neurological examination and musculoskeletal examination.

  • Tests - these may include spirometry testing (blowing into a tube), hearing and vision testing as well as audiometry (hearing test).

  • Investigations these may include urine test -for electrolytes and drugs, alcohol breath test, some times a referral for blood tests, x-rays, a treadmill exercise test to assess cardiac function, or a polysomnography test to investigate sleep apnoea may be required.
